David A. Linnig Tue Sep 23 14:23:08 1997
Seeking info on descendants of Johann LINNIG, who emigrated to Peru IL in 1852. He was born in Prussia ca.1810-20. About 1840 he married Anna Catherine HOVER and they had six children while they resided in Germany: Marie Aloise Linnig b. 1841, Marie Elizabeth Linnig b. 1845, Heinrich Linnig b. 1846, Heinrich Joseph Linnig b. 1848, Wilhelmina Linnig b. 1849 and Johann Peter Linnig b.1851. The family had been in Peru a short time when a cholera epidemic claimed the lives of both parents and the two infants. The orphans went to live with the family of Anton BIRKENBEUHL(sp?) and were reared in their home. I have much on the family of the elder Heinrich, but little on the others. The elder Heinrich married Sarah REAM and later became a successful jeweler in Peru. They had seven children (Henry Frank Linnig born 1/20/1869, Charles Edward Linnig born 5/27/1872, William Benjamin Linnig born 11/11/1874, Joseph John Linnig born 11/5/1876, Frank Max Linnig born 3/6/1879, Edwin Hugh Linnig born 6/13/1881 [my grandfather], and Viola Etta Linnig born 9/4/1888 Heinrich Joseph was killed in 1862 at the battle of Stone's River (TN). Marie Aloise Linnig married a man named STRUNCK. Maria Elizabeth Linnig married a man named DUESMANN. Would appreciate any info on LINNIG, STRUNCK, DUESMANN, and BIRKENBEUHL.

Interested in any information on Charles M. WORTHINGHAM (born 6/5/61) and Lydia m. WORTHINGHAM (born 8/31/49). They were the children of Morrison Worthingham and Sarah Ann Worthingham (BARKER). Morrison was killed near Murphreesburo Tennessee on 12/31/61. He was a 2nd Lt. with the 100th Illinois, Co. "K" out of Joliet. Sarah later married Enos BROWN on 3/8/65 but Charles and Lydia were made the custody of Wellington B. Worthingham (Morrison's father or brother?) on 3/24/65. I believe the children stayed in Joliet while Sarah and Enos moved to LaSalle County. Sarah was later awarded guardianship of Charles on 2/26/69. Lydia was already over 18 years of age. Events in Joliet were in Will county and events in LaSalle county took place in Ottawa. That's where my trail runs cold. I am trying to make a connection between Morrison Worthingham and any Worthinghams in Minnesota. Thank You very much.

I am doing research on my great great grandfather, Dennis TUCKER who came from Ireland 1856-7 and married Catherine KEILY on April 13, 1857 in St Patrick's Catholic Church in La Salle. I am not sure if this church in in La Salle city or somewhere in the county. They had 5 children - Mary Ann 1858, Martin 1860, Patrick Thomas 1861 (my grandfather), Dennis 1862, and Ellen 1863. Catherine Keily died between the birth of Ellen and when Dennis married his second wife, Elizabeth NIERTNEY on May 22, 1865. They had one son, John born April19,1966. Elizabeth died 2 days later on April 21, 1866 and John died at almost 4 months old in Aug. of 1866. Dennis married Bridget COSGROVE GAVIN in 1867 and they lived in La Salle city until they moved to Elmo Kansas in 1872. I know that Dennis had a sister Bridget Tucker who married Patrick RUANI in April 1865 and a brother Martin who I know very little about.

Looking for information on Philander DOWD. He is shown as a soldier of the 12th Infantry CO. B for the Civil War out of Mendota. I believe he was born in Vinton Cty, Ohio and moved to the Mendota area and possibly met his wife Sarah Alice there. I do not know her maiden name. There is a grave in Macarthur, Ohio for a Philander DOWD b Oct. 14, 1838 and d August 5, 1859. These dates do not give the chance of Philander being in the Civil War, but this name is unusual and I am hoping to find a connection. He supposedly had a daughter named Rose. Linda
