SAMUEL E. THARP, better known upon the canal by "Commodore Tharp," who died at Joliet on Saturday and whose remains have been brought to Ottawa for burial, was born and raised in this city and, though living for a number of years past at Joliet, has still a large number of friends and acquaintances here.
