Robert Davis

Lifelong Resident of City And Former Blacksmith, Is Taken By Death

Robert Davis, 80, a lifelong resident of Streator, and who at one time maintained a blacksmith shop at 106 East Stanton Street, died at St. Mary's Hospital at 10:25 last night. He had been ill for several months and entered the hospital a week ago.

His only survivors are two nieces, Mrs. Arthur (Margaret Davis) Fincham and Mrs. Clifford (Edna Davis)Rasmussen of St. Louis, Mo. His wife the former Louise Geiger, to whom he was married at Davenport, Iowa, in 1940, preceded him in death in 1946. There were no children.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Eva Davis, and a brother George Davis.

The son of Reese and Mary (Alexander) Davis, he was born April 9, 1873, in Streator. He had always resided here.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Elias Funeral Home, burial to follow in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Wednesday.
