I am searching for information about Susan Baldwin and her ancestry. She
married her cousin Daniel Baldwin in New Milford, Connecticut on Nov 8,
1809. I can trace Daniel back to 1638, but can't get beyond Susan. Her
father's name was John. Both Daniel and Susan died in Farm Ridge, La Salle
County, Illinois. Susan died August 23, 1854. Daniel died October 7, 1860. I
would like a copy of Elmer Baldwin's genealogy for La Salle County or copies
of pages relevant to my ancesters. My great grandfather was Marquis
LaFayette Baldwin. He was in the Farm Ridge area, moved to Gennesee County,
Michigan to raise a family, and then moved back to La Salle County where he
died January 1, 1902 in Ottawa. Can I get a map of La Salle County? Also,
there was a Baldwin family bible (my grandmother told me in a letter). She
said that a Ms. Grandlund(sp?), a niece had it. I was unable to search on
your web site because the links did not work.

This is an update to my 2000 query WHEATLAND/SMITH/CHURCH/PEARSON - William
Wheatland and Elizabeth Blackwell Wheatland and son Isaac w/wife Ann
(Forbes) and daughter Elizabeth (m. Wedgebury) immigrated to Ohio in 1832.
They trekked to LaSalle Ill about 1835, living near Ottawa. Isaac and Ann
had additional children William, Mary Ann (CHURCH), Albert, George, Helen D.
(PEARSON), Jonathan, and Fanny. Ann died about 1846 and Isaac drowned in the
Illinois River in January 5, 1848. Altho, the grandparents and Isaac's third
wife were living at the time, they gave the children to the State of
Illinois who in turn made them wards of Edgar Baldwin. Though he had custody
(wardship) of all the children I noted in the 1850 census that only one of
the children actually was listed with him. The remaining children were
listed with a variety of folk around LaSalle and Lvingston Counties. My 2d
Great Grandfather was George WHEATLAND (b. 8/5/1838). Married Esther J.SMITH
(b. 9/3/1840 in Connecticut)on April 29, 1863 in Ottawa. Esther's parents
were William R. & Eliza Smith. Esther's siblings were Franklin, Ford,
Frederick, Amelia and Augusta. My great grandfather, Frank Albert WHEATLAND
was born in Illinois Feb 15, 1865. I know that George and Esther are buried
in Siloam Springs, Benton, Arkansas and I have found George on the 1850
(Vermillion), 1860 (Farm Ridge), 1900 (Nebraska)& 1910 (Nebraska)census and
Esther on the 1860 (Farm Ridge, ILL), 1900 (Nebraska) and 1910 (Colorado).

when her parents Johann and his wife Anna Catherine (Hover) Linnig (from

epidemic in Peru. (According to reseach, so many residents of Peru died
there was no time to build coffins so a trench was dug at what is now Sixth

orphaned Linnig children (Marie Louise, Marie Elizabeth, Heinrich and
Joseph)went through probate court/guardianship proceedings and were raised
in the home of Anton Birkenbuehl. We know almost nothing about my

my great-grandmother in LaSalle County in 1858, was naturalized in Lee

rather than their married name. I was wondering if there were Traceys or

Frederick. Perhaps this Frederick was his uncle. These Traceys were

January 9, 2002 Hello, I am searching for information about the Alftine
family. My Great-grandfather, Erik Alftine immigrated from Norway to America
during the Civil War. He was married to a Christine (Johns Daughter)Alftine
before leaving Norway. They boarded a cattle ship at that time I am being
told by distant relatives. I know he is buried in the Grand Ridge cemetery,
Grand Ridge, Illinois. I visited this cemetery in March 2001, and took a
photo of his gravestone then. I would appreciate it if you could find out
more informaiton about my Great grandfather Erik Alftine. He gave up his
citizenship to his country of Norway to become an American. Anything you can
find, his religion, what town he lived in, most of all the number of
children they had, and where they would be located. I recently found a woman
named, Vivian Mae (Alftine) age 69, whose father was Jonas Andersson
Alftine. Please contact me when you find this information. She is also
interested if we are "distant cousins." Thanks so much for any help you can
give me. Sincerely, Nancy (Shull) Fink.
