Funeral Services Of Thomas Sowerby To Be Held Sunday

          Was Born In England, came to Streator 30 Years Ago--Survived by Wife

 

          The death of Thomas Sowerby occurred yesterday as stated on the Free Press

last evening. He passed away at 11:30 in the forenoon. He was born

December 28, 1849 in England and most of his life was engaged in  mining

coal, sometimes as an operator of a shaft. He came to Streator thirty

years ago.

           On December 12, 1893, he married the widow of Reese Davis, in

Pontiac, who survives him. Also surviving are one brother and three

sisters in England, Mrs, James Hardy, Joseph and Edward of this city.

           For several years during the latter part of his life he conducted a

small grocery store on East Stanton Street but had been ailing

considerably during the past two years from sarcoma.

           The funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock on Sunday afternoon at the

residence, 1002 North Park Street and the remains will be buried in

Riverview Cemetery.
